Pride and Prejudice

Now I understand that people have differing opinions on this classic. You either love it or you hate it. Personally I adore this book, I have read it five times in three weeks!
Elizabeth Bennet is the charming and witty character whom most of us can relate to.  She meets a man, who at first she believes to be proud, however as the title suggests she has been hasty in her judgement of him, for his true character displays that of a gentleman, although he has pride, he has a quick mind and a heart for those who matter. Now I don't know how you feel about men, or for those men reading, how you feel about women, but for me Mr.Darcy is close to perfection in the sense of the word. I know that it is just a book, but to me, a dreamer, it isn't just a book. I can see things that I can apply to my life, falling in love with someone we 'hate', meeting that man who compliments you perfectly. To name just a few.

Now for the controversy! The film/television adaptations. I would like to know your opinions on this matter!
I have not yet seen the television adaptation with Mr.Colin Firth, I have however seen the 2005 film with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.
People may call me bias as I have only seen the film, but I adore it. The first time I saw it I was outraged because it rushed through the scenes that were, in my imagination, beautiful. They changed things and it was not like the book in many places. However after watching it on several occasions I began to see the positive aspects. The actors and actresses were fantastic, each displaying what I imagined the characters to be like. I have to applaud the superb acting by the two main characters. Keira Knightley did a fantastic job playing a character who so many people can relate to. Matthew Macfadyen, what a wonderful actor! I was astonished by the fact that he looked just like the Darcy I had imagined while reading the book. He made the passion and intensity that Darcy felt towards Eliza very clear and while showing the main characteristics of Darcy, added a vulnerability (as Keira Knightley said) which made him even more brilliant.

Pride and Prejudice is a classic book that will be forever loved.   Opinions?
